50 years have passed since the fateful night, destined to be one of the cornerstones for Andalo’s tourist history
When the Municipal Council of Andalo found an agreement on the construction of a lift facility that would connect Andalo with the tip of Mt. Paganella. The Council stated that this deed would represent “the base for a notable increase in tourism”, and foretold that such an “adequate structure for winter sports and leisure” would have been the main premise for the beginning of a new era in our community, which for centuries was based on agriculture and craftsmanship.
This 1959 official act, characterized by formidable far-sightedness and economic daring, allocated in this project the outstanding sum of almost 86 Million liras. The construction started the following year, and by July 22, 1962 it was completed and inaugurated, with the presence of On. Fiorentino Sullo, at that time Minister of Public Works.
